Benchmarking review sheet

A review structure for search strategy, screening decisions, comparability, PLI selection and final range.

01

Make the search reproducible

A benchmark should allow another practitioner to understand the database, search date, filters, screening steps and final inclusion decisions.

02

Core checks

  • Search universe, geography, industry codes and independence criteria.
  • Quantitative filters and their relationship to the tested activity.
  • Manual accept and reject reasons for every reviewed company.
  • PLI calculation, loss treatment and multi-year period.
  • Working-capital or other comparability adjustments.

03

Handover

Retain the search output, decision log, calculations and reviewer comments together. The range alone is not a sufficient audit trail.
